Neal and Mary Jo serve on the New Hope International church eldership board.
Neal Caulkins was raised on a small grain farm in Dazey North Dakota, and came to Seattle in 1988 to attend Lutheran bible institute.
He first attended New Hope Church as a requirement for a cross cultural communication class he was taking at the bible school. Neal knew from the first Sunday that he attended that the Lord was calling him to come and be a part of building this new International fellowship.
Neal is currently employed in Landscaping and lives in Bellevue, Washington with his wife Mary Jo.
Mary Jo was born and raised in Bellevue Washington and is the daughter of James and Paddy Loughran who were also born in Bellevue.
Mary Jo first met Pastor Lao at Harbor view Hospital, where he was the chief resident at the time. Her first visit to the church was to bring a Thai speaking friend to hear the Gospel. Mary Jo has worked as a Registered Nurse at Harbor view Medical Center on the Neurosurgery/Neurology floor for over twenty years
She was touched by the simplicity of the people and their love for Jesus, and their vision to be apart of building Gods Kingdom. Mary Jo also felt God telling her to remain and be a part of this church family. She was a single parent to her daughter Jamael, until God called her and Neal after 10 years of friendship and serving together in New Hope church to become one in marriage.
Both Mary Jo and Neal enjoy their family and two grandchildren, hiking, traveling, but most of all, serving the Lord and His people.
Their joy is to see people’s lives transformed by the love of Jesus, and for them to serve in the gifting and anointing that the Lord has given them, to be a partner in enlarging Gods Kingdom. They encourage you to love the Lord with all your heart mind strength and soul, and to be a light that shines in the dark places. They work with missions and serve as Unit leaders over several care groups, they are also closely involved in working with a Ministry in downtown Seattle, Amazing Grace.
